Truth Trumps

Shelley Shepard Gray has written another engaging book in the "Amish of Hart County" series entitled His Guilt. Mark Fisher does not come from your typical Amish family. Instead, he experiences neglect from his parents, witnesses his parent's alcohol abuse and suffers abuse from his father. He grows up trying to protect his younger brother, Calvin, but eventually Calvin moves away. Mark also moved away after being blamed for assulting a young woman but has returned to his old home and begun working for Mr. Lehmann at his gardening store. Waneta Cain is not sure about working with Mark at the store; his presence makes her uneasy. Time takes it course as a friendship develops between Mark and Waneta. That is until another woman is assulted, then all eyes in the community look at Mark. Now Waneta is not sure about her friendship with Mark. Who is the attacker? Is it Mark or his brother, Calvin? Will Waneta remain true to God and be a friend to Mark? You will need to read the book to discover the climatic ending to this book! Mishap or Coincident

A whimsical Amish tale of how two lives cross paths and send hearts pitter patting. Could it be a mishap or is it a coincident that Elma Hochstetler and Ben Wagler go to the same farmers' market in another town from where they both live? Is it mishap or coincident that Ben's dog goes missing and ends up in another town far from home? In the meantime, Thelma, Elma's twin sister, is trying to play matchmaker by hooking Elma up with Delbert. But Elma insists she only wants to be friends with Delbert as her life is busy running her general store and taking care of her farm. What she doesn't tell her sister is how her mind keeps wondering back to Ben. "The Farmers' Market Mishap" is Wanda E. Brunstetter's sequel to "The Lopsided Christmas Cake." If you enjoy the Amish genre and looking for a light summer read then give this book a try. Ride of a Lifetime

After reading "Driver Confessional" you may rethink your next ride in a taxi or ride-share vehicle. Antonio is a ride-share driver working part-time to support his family and attend law school. As he listens to his travel companions during their ride in his vehicle, he will pray for them silently or with them if they so desire. Antonio has what you might call a traveling ministry. What he doesn't expect is that one of his riders would leave behind her briefcase after telling him she is concerned about the company she works for stating "I'm in a tricky situation...there could be permanent consequences for me" (p.9). Upon discovering the briefcase Antonio attempts to contact his female rider but to no avail so he googles her address and drives to her expensive house where he finds her dead. Lucky for Antonio, his brother, Rocco, is a cop. They both begin investigating the female rider's death in their own way. For Antonio it is listening to his riders' conversations and asking questions. This journey around Washington, DC in David Winters first book in a three part series. I found the writing style to be different and at times a bit slow but the underlying premise makes a great story. I received this complimentary copy from Litfuse to review and give my honest opinion. Indubitable Truth

Wade pin 2Nora Bradford does not see herself as outgoing and beautiful, she would rather curl up with a good book, watch her favorite British series and be working as librarian/genealogist at her historical village. She wants nothing to do with romance after her break-up three years ago except for her imaginary romance between television hero Adolphus and Miss Lucy (Nora envisions herself as Lucy.). But her world is turned for a loop one day when she attends an emergency preparedness and response training course with her sister Britt and meets John Lawson. John Lawson is a former Navy SEAL, the epitome of masculinity per Nora. Fate has decided to bring the two together as John hires Nora to search for his birth mother. The outcome of the search is not what either one expects, nor is the surprise visit from the character who plays Adolphus. I enjoyed reading "True to You" by Becky Wade. A contemporary fictional romance that flows well with quality characters. My only draw back was trying to identify with Nora who owned a historical village at such a young age. That aside, I highly recommend picking this book up for a summer read. Visit http://litfusegroup.com/author/bwade for more information. And the Truth Shall Set You Free

Meet Carmela Wade, orphaned as a child while heading West with her parents, and her uncle, Silas Holden, who do live performances recreating Carmela's capture and life living with a group of Indians. Only problem is that the story is a falsehood. Carmela is now an adult and wants to escape from telling this fradulent story and living a life of lies. But she has no other way of making a living. Her uncle Silas has told her her father owed him money and she must pay off the debt. After the stagecoach they are riding heading to their next performance is ambushed Carmela wonders if this is her chance to begin a new life. Follow Carmela and follow passenger U.S. Marshal Freeland McKay adventures as they try to reach safety and come to terms with Carmela's true past. Susan Page Davis has done a nice job recreating a western adventure in My Heart Belongs in the Superstition Mountains: Carmela's Quandary. Teenage Devotional

"Devoted" is an inspiring devotional that offers alot in 31 days of study. Although this is tailored for teenage and young adult women, I found some golden nuggets to ponder as I read through Marjorie Jackson's book as an older adult woman. Marjorie's style is fresh and appealing offering coloring pages to meditate upon, a challenge to take each day after reading the day's lesson along with a daily Bible verse. For someone so young, the author offers great insight that young women are experiencing in today's world. I would recommend this devotional to moms' of teenagers and young adult women. The moms may find reading this book along side their daughters to be a great time of bonding, learning, and loving as they grow their faith in Jesus. I recieved a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligatin to post a review.
