In "The Gift," third in the Amish of Hart County series by Shelley Shepard Gray, the reader meets Susanna Schwartz, a young Amish woman new to the Hart County, Kentucky. Susanna is in her buggy during an ice storm heading home when she hears what sounds like gunshots. The noise spokes her horse causing her buggy to tip over. Thus begins the first of several incidents that cause Susanna to think someone doesn't want her or her family to be in Hart County and particularly be on the new farm her family purchased. She discovers that the Amish man who found her along the road is Neil Vance, whose farm she now lives on. Neil is upset over his family losing their farm and takes out his disappointment on Susanna. But as the story progresses, he tries to become a friend to Susanna and help her discover who is behind all the incidents. A nice little Amish mystery and romance to read over the holidays.
